Ministries
WORSHIP
UNIT
The purpose of the Worship Unit is to assure that all experiences of worship are faithful
to the authority of the Holy Spirit speaking in and through scripture, edify the whole church, and reflect the richness of
the cultural diversity, local circumstances and needs of the congregation (summarized from the Book of Order W-3.100).
The Worship Unit shall be responsible for the following ministries/services of the church: Regular Worship, Choirs,
Ushers, Acolytes, Greeters, Advent, Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve, Ash Wednesday, Lent, Maundy Thursday, Easter Sunrise,
Church Anniversary and Thanksgiving.
STEWARDSHIP UNIT
The purpose
of the Stewardship Unit is to educate the congregation to the need for Christian commitment and discipleship. The work of
the Stewardship Unit is manifested in the biblical interpretation that the tithing of time, talents and treasurers is a primary
expression of Christian Discipline and stewardship (summarized from the Book of Order W-5.100).
The stewardship
Unit is responsible for the following ministries of the church: Special Offerings, Moment of Mission, Interpretation Mission,
Every Member Canvas, Che’ Raines Scholarship and Scholarship Program.
EVANGELISM UNIT
The purpose of the Evangelism Unit is to help believers in the Christian Community proclaim the love of God, the peace
of Christ and the transforming power of the Holy Spirit in the life of the church.
The work of the Evangelism Unit
is manifested in the life of each Christian by drawing people from their separateness into the community of shared faith in
Jesus Christ through worship and service (summarized from the Book of Order, W-7.000).
NURTURE
UNIT
The purpose of the Nurture Unit is to educate, train and bring all believers in the Christian
Community to full maturity in Jesus Christ (summarized from the Book of Order, W-6.000).
The Nurture Unit shall
be responsible for the following ministries of the church: Church School, Youth Ministry, Presbyterian Women/Soul Food Sunday,
Presbyterian Men, Children’s Ministry (Church), MLK Holiday, Black History Month, Easter Program, Bible Study Program,
Recognition Sunday, Vacation Bible School, Senior Adult Ministry and Young Adult Ministry.
