Message From the Pastor

Welcome to the Voices of Belle Terrace website.

I wish you grace and peace in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

By the time you read this article, it is my prayer that you will have had a good, relaxing summer to this point, and that the rest of your summer will be just as good and relaxing.

Thank you for your prayers and support as I concluded my military obligation.  Now that I am a “gray area retiree” meaning I’m retired without any monetary benefits, my goals for the remainder of the year are:

1.       To gradually get re-acclimated to the demands of the pastorate and
2.
2.       To invite you to study with me the transforming power of prayer, beginning this Fall.

The following is a tentative calendar of events:

1.
August 2007 – Four sermon series on The Transforming Power of Prayer

September 2007 – A four week study on the Spiritual Discipline of Personal Journaling.  Journaling is the process of writing your thoughts and prayers as a part of your daily meditation or devotion.

October 2007 – A four week study on the Spiritual Discipline of Lectio Divina (lek-she’-o de-ve’-na).  Lectio Divina is the process of listening to and praying the scripture.
Also, from October 18-21, participants are invited to attend a spiritual retreat at Camp Pinnacle in Clayton County.  The retreat is called Cursillo (Spanish for  pilgrimage”).

November 2007 – A four week class on the Spiritual Discipline of Examen (ex-ar’-men).  Examen is the process of praying the experiences of our everyday lives

December 2007 – There will be no classes in December but we will meet once to discuss and evaluate the process and fellowship before the holidays.
January 2008 – Four week class on the Spiritual Discipline of Intercessory Prayer.  Intercessory prayer is the process of praying for others.  Words may or may not be used in this process.

February 2008 – Four weekly services for Healing and Wholeness.  Healing and wholeness come in a variety of ways.  During these services, we will pray for personal healing and wholeness, but also for healing and wholeness in our church and in the world.

March 2008 – Four week class on forming a Partners in Prayer Ministry.

April 2008 – Final evaluation and discussion on the transforming power of prayer in our lives..

Prayerfully consider if you are interested in participating in the Spiritual Disciplines of Prayer study.  If so, please print and fill out the form below and return it to me as soon as possible or telephone my office at 706-793-6908 and leave your name, telephone number and requested information.
